Eliška Jandová

Eliška Jandová

She comes from Plzeň, graduated from the master's program at the Faculty of Science, Charles University, specializing in molecular biology, genetics, and virology, and is currently preparing for a doctoral study in leukemia immunotherapy at the Faculty of Medicine in Plzeň. Following her mother's example, she initially wanted to become an economist, then considered studying law and pursuing a career as an interpreter. In addition to English, she dedicated herself intensively to learning Russian. "In the fourth year of high school, I finally decided to dive into chemistry to increase my chances of being accepted into the Faculty of Science. When faced with a challenge, I give it my all," she recalls. In 2022, she applied for the FameLab competition and won it with a topic on cancer research. She then represented the Czech Republic in the international FameLab competition, where she secured the second place. Subsequently, she successfully participated in the Science Festival in Cheltenham, UK. Since then, she has been involved in science popularization activities such as stand-up performances, participation in discussion events, and recording the podcast "Taste (Nature)Science" with interesting scientific personalities. She is slowly starting her outreach activities on social media, especially on Instagram (@ellisse13), where she shares her journey as a scientist with an autoimmune disease.

Professionally

On TV

As a person who has been educating the nation for some time both in his field and in media activity, I am curious to see how the new generation of future scientists and popularizers of science will be able to demonstrate their work. I will be glad to meet many interesting people and hopefully I will be able to help the new generation of Czech science to better promote their amazing discoveries. And should they be afraid of me? Well, of course... I am able to find mistakes even in texts from completely unrelated topics :)
